What's worship lIke at Christ's Promise?

When you arrive, you will hear Christ's Promise, the sounds of a fresh start, people practicing a simpler way to be.

Every gathering begins with hugs and handshakes, love and laughter, the Promise of friendship as the greater family greets one another along the way.

On the announcement screen are the activities of passionate people; providing for one another. The organ is playing behind the chatter as the choir assembles. Soon the welcome chorus gathers us together.

A few announcements are shared as the Christ's Promise family prepares for the coming week. Most churches practice a call to worship. At Christ's Promise, we remind ourselves of a simpler way to be.

As the words, appear on the worship screen, we begin to praise God in Christ. The traditional organ, piano, midi keyboard, and whatever instruments the family brings, all have a place. Sometimes, we hear from our own creative artists. You never know what's coming. The Christ's Promise family has spawned many instrumentalists, song writers and singing groups.

There is contemporary Christian music and even hymns, oldies but goodies, as we corporately participate in worship together. The choir continues to share with us something very special, week after week.

There are no big chairs or a pulpit at the front. When it's time for the lesson of the day, our story teller sits on a stool that we bought her for her birthday. We learn about the way of being God created every human being to be. This way is an inward way of being, not of outwardly doing our duty.

This way helps us find contentment in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. More importantly, this way helps us develop a healthy visceral response to God and to one another. We seek to always be a church at peace.

We never employ guilt, shame or duty. We promise no fortune or fame. Our lessons are real and full of humor as we explore a better journey of life, a fresh start for those who follow Christ's simpler way to be.

We go out like we came in. It takes a while for the sounds of a family, in the way, to go on their way. Come try us. We'll serve and share lunch with you at Christ's Promise the first Sunday of each month.
